The Social Relief of Distress (SRD) Grant has been an important saving grace to all the unemployed South African citizens between the ages of 18 to 59. Every two months, in August 2025, it is planned that the grant amount will be R370 to help the beneficiaries meet some basic needs such as food, transport, and medical costs.
August 2025 Payment Dates
In August 2025, the payment of SRD Grant will land between 25 and 30 August. The release of funds is made during the final week of the month, so that one can keep certainty about his rent payment and a shopping trip to the grocery store. This line item has compared to other social grants that were received in the first week of the month.
Who is Eligible to the SRD Grant?
Applicants have to be between 18 and 59 years of age, South African citizens or permanent residents, and unemployed in order to receive the R370 SRD Grant. Beneficiaries are not allowed to get any other SASSA social grant as well as unemployment insurance benefits. The applicants should complete a means test and write authentic banking information to prevent delays in payment.
How to Receive Your R370
Their payment will be directly deposited into an established bank account by the beneficiaries. Individuals who do not have bank accounts can withdraw cash when an ATM is utilized with the use of the SASSA gold or Black card. Third party cash collection can be done at designated post offices or retail pay points which are approved. The money is not gone once it is paid out but waits till a certain period of time after the release so less people need to line at the payout locations.
New Extra Payment Date
In the case of August 2025, SASSA includes a new fourth pay date on a Friday 8 August. The additional date is beneficial to applicants who are in reconsideration or verification and new approved beneficiaries do not necessarily have to wait until September to get their grant.

Be sure that your banking, as well as contact info, remains up to date either via the SASSA SRD portal or by applying to a local branch. Monitor your payment by SMS, visit the SASSA official site, or Moya/SASSA mobile application. Be extra cautious of frauds- SASSA will never ask you to pay OTPs, fees, or personal information so that they can process your grant. As the R370 SRD Grant is prolonged to March 2026, it is expected that tracking the status of your application helps you to get funds without any breaks.
